President's Message: April 2021

By Kent Disch , 04/23/21, 7:45AM CDT

Hello Sun Prairie Soccer families!
It is hard to believe it was only a year ago, we were halting our leagues, our teams and our entire lives due to COVID-19. After a scary and trying year for all of us, I cannot express how excited we all are to start playing again and start official league play this weekend!
With the start of the season this Saturday, I want to share with expectations for players, coaches, and spectators. SPSC is following MAYSA’s COVID-19 protocols for this season.
Following Public Health Dane County-Madison's latest Order #15 the following rules will apply:
1) Players on the field will NOT be required to wear masks.
2) Players and coaches on the sidelines are strongly encouraged to wear masks.
3) All spectators are strongly encouraged to wear masks.
4) All spectator and players not on the field are encouraged to practice safe social distancing.
Please be aware, some Clubs may use fields that are owned by school districts, and those may have different, stricter rules in place. If the home team asks that players and parents follow a different set of rules, please be a good guest and adhere to those rules.
I hope all our players, families and fans will understand we are still in the midst of a global pandemic, and we need to be flexible and understanding with each other. Let's all work together to make game day fun and safe for everyone!
Please remember, there are still strict COVID-19 related disclosure and tracking rules SPSC needs to follow. If a player or parents is diagnosed with COVID-19 or has a "close contact" with someone who was diagnosed, we need to follow quarantine and reporting procedures. Just like last Fall, if you or your player has a positive test or a close contact with a positive test, please email the Club at as soon as possible.
Finally, I want to thank each and every one of our SPSC members--players, parents, referees, Coaches and everyone else who supports our Club. Your understanding and flexibility over the last year has helped us ensure we can continue to provide a safe, fun and instructional soccer for our kids. Simply put, we don't exist without your support and we appreciate it!
Fingers are crossed for some decent weather this weekend. I hope all of you have a fun, safe and enjoyable opening weekend!
Thank you!
