Fall seasons begin in September and go until early November.
Spring seasons begin in April and end in early June.
These programs are for birth years 2016-2017 (9U-10U) for the fall 2025 - spring 2026 year. Our Recreational program is also available for any 8U (2018) players that may want to learn to play the 7v7 format early.
We have two options for players in this age range: our traditional Academy and our new Recreational program. Both programs are designed for players either coming out of our Junior Academy program as they enter Phase 2 of our Player Development Framework, or are new to soccer.
Either program is available to anyone, and anyone can choose to switch between programs each season, as long as there is space available.
All players have opportunities to receive additional training in both winter and summer months through our seasonal camps (separate cost) and can participate in our free community futsal program in winter months.
Academy teams play together year-round (fall and spring seasons), competing in the MAYSA league and in one regional tournament each season. Away games and tournaments may be up to an hour away each way. We generally have so many teams that we place them in each of MAYSA’s divisions from most to least competitive, and then hold evaluations in summer months to form teams that can best compete in these divisions. This process is necessary because of the timing for when MAYSA requires our teams to be submitted to them.
Uniforms are purchased from Soccer.com at an additional cost on a two-year cycle (cost round $130). Current uniforms can be worn through spring 2026.
Our Recreational program features a group setting where players receive training and play games under the direction of one of our Staff Coaches, and volunteers as necessary. For games, players in the pool are broken out into teams to play each other, other SPSC teams in our traditional Academy program, or possibly guest teams from partner clubs. Games are planned for Saturday mornings at 10am, but may vary a little as needed due to weather to scheduling conflicts.
In an effort to accommodate neighboring clubs, we may play a few games at their fields, up to 20 minutes away. The goal is to give our players a variety of opponents, while still committing to limiting travel.
All players will be provided with a jersey to wear during training and games. All other equipment (ball, shorts, shin guards, cleats, etc.) is provided by the players. Shin guards and cleats are required during all sessions.
Year One
This being our first year of the program, we are planning to serve about 36 players, which is about the size of three teams between boys and girls. After 36 players are registered, additional players can be waitlisted. If there is sufficient demand on the waitlist to change from a training pool setting to individual teams, still managed by our Staff Coaches, we may explore that option.
We already have a few partner clubs lined up, which will allow us to offer some away games at known locations (e.g. east Madison, west Madison, Middleton, Waunakee, etc.) and times during the season, as opposed to the randomized schedule that our traditional Academy teams will have. Our partner clubs have both coed and boys or girls teams available.
We are also working with partner clubs to form a free jamboree-style tournament towards the end of the season.
