Leagues & Teams | U4-U8 In-House Leagues
Thank you for your interest in our Club! If your child was born in 2011-2015 then you are in the right place to learn what SPSC can offer you and your child. We consider this range of ages Birth Year 2015 (U4), 2013-14 (U6) and 2011-2012 (U8). All children in these age groups play in our “in-house” leagues, meaning they play matches at Sun Prairie facilities or against neighboring Norski Soccer Club for U8 teams.
Registration is open. All teams are co-ed.
Spring season runs early April through early June.
In-House League FAQ
Q: Can I register my player after the deadline?
A: Late registrants will NOT be guaranteed placement on a team. Placement on a team will be contingent on team availability not to exceed maximum team sizes and availability of volunteer coaches. We strongly suggest parents of late registrants offer to help coach. Late registrants will incur a processing fee and may have a delay in uniform receipt.
Q: Are uniforms included in my player’s registration?
A: Uniform costs typically range $15-20. Shortly after your registration has been completed you will receive an email with a link to order. All uniforms will be ordered and paid for by the parent or guardian.
Q: Should my player wear cleats and shin guards?
A: YES! Shin guards are worn under long knee-high socks. Cleats can be purchased at many area local retailers. We also offer our players an opportunity to find gently used gear at our equipment swaps that happen prior to the start of each season. Stay tuned to our website and social media for specifics.
Q: How are teams assigned? Can I sign my player up with a friend or two?
A: All players in U6 and U8 are randomly assigned to teams to encourage fairness and opportunities for players to develop new friendships. The only exception to this rule allows up to three players per team to be preassigned PROVIDED their parents or guardians volunteer as team coach, assistant coach and manager. If this interests you, please fill in the Volunteer box during registration of each of the 3 players with 1) the names of the other players, 2) the names of all three parent/guardian volunteers and 3) the roles each parent/guardian plans to fill. Without this information we will need to verify the request across all 3 players.
Q: I like to plan ahead! Do you know when my child's practices will be?
A: SPSC staff and volunteer coaches will determine practice days.
Parents, the success of our recreation leagues depends greatly on the volunteer efforts of people like you. All In-House teams are coached by parent volunteers, and coaches often recruit the help of other parents to help as assistant coach or team manager. Our Club is always in need of new coaches in order to accommodate all registering players and keep team sizes small. If you have even the slightest notion that you may be able to coach and make a huge impact in these children’s lives, you may be relieved to know that SPSC offers many resources to make coaching relatively easy, very effective and extremely rewarding.
