Twas the night before game day and all through the house,
All the player excitement we just could not douse,
The cleats were hung by the backdoor with care,
In hopes that they might air out that “flair”
The players were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of goal shots danced in their heads.

We’ll dash away, dash away, with that soccer ball!”
And then, in a flash, they remembered their idols--
Their footwork and teamwork all through the finals!
That’s Messi! Now Pele! And Beckham and Neymar!
Now Wambach, and Solo, and Morgan and Hamm!
Too excited to sleep in their snug little beds,
They sprang right back up In their Sun Prairie reds,
Then we heard them exclaim, as they turned out the light,
"Happy Game Day to all, and to all a good-night!"
