Camps & Academies | Goalkeeper Academy
Activities combine training in coordination, speed, agility and strength with the development of leadership and proper footwork, catching and distribution technique. Our winter Goalkeeper Academy sessions will be led by special guest coach, Jack Gieche, a former UW Madison goalkeeper and UW Whitewater goalkeeper coach, who now directs the youth academy at Stan Anderson's Camp Shutout. SPSC goalkeeper coach, Andy Albright, will assist.
When considering which level to register your player, please consider your player's best learning environment. Aim for a level that allows both challenge and success. Coaches reserve the right to move players from one level to another based on skill level.
Goalkeeper - Level 1 (typically U9-U11, birth years 2009-2007, depending on skill level) Technical focus on foundational skills. Tactical focus on positioning relative to angle of attack.
Goalkeeper - Level 2 (typically U11-U13, birth years 2007-2005, depending on skill level) Technical focus on refinement of foundational skills. Tactical focus on positioning, 1v1, and dealing with crosses. Players in Level 2 should already have a solid foundation of Level 1 skills.
Goalkeeper - Level 3 (typically U13-15, birth years 2005-2003, depending on skill level) Technical focus on mastery of foundational skills. Tactical awareness focuses on positioning, 1v1, 1v2, dealing with crosses, and directing defenders. Players in Level 3 should already have a solid foundation of Level 2 skills.
